Domain Names
First, you must choose an available website name (domain name.) We suggest
using the Network Solutions name search service. But please do not place an
order there. Just find an available name, and we'll do the
rest. (Network Solutions charges $35 per year, and to purchase a name you must open an account
which requires completing registration forms. We do it all for you.)
Our Fee: $25.00 per name, per year; plus a one time per name fee of $15.00 for
completing the forms. The domain name will be registered to you, not us. Some things to keep in mind when deciding on a name are:
- Once a name is registered by someone else, it could take years for it to become available again, if ever.
- There can be no spaces in a website name, and all letters are lower case.
- The name should be short, and easy for people to remember.
- Separating words in the name with dashes makes it easier for search engines to categorize. And therefore, your site could benefit on the results pages.
- The name will be part of your email address, so keeping it short, helps.
- You should buy as many variations of the name as you can afford (*.com *.net *.info *.us *.biz). You may decide not not use them, but they remain your property provided you renew them each year.
- Remember that you’ll advertise your site name, add it to your signage, business cards, letterhead, and so on. So, envision these items when choosing the name.
- You will also giving people your site name and / or email address over the phone, so say it out loud a few times to be sure it is easy to say, and for the other person to understand.
- If you purchase multiple names, you can also have multiple ‘one page’ sites (for a fee of $15 per month each) that if visited, would automatically transfer the visitor to your main site.
