Getting Started |
|
| |
| Overview |
| There are a number of pieces to the
puzzle, when putting together a website. You'll find
literally thousands of companies, each offering dozens of
services. All of this is clearly overwhelming for the
average small business owner. Below, are the basic
steps. |
| |
| Step 1 |
|
You need to
choose a domain (website) name. There are hundreds
of thousands of names that already exist, and there can be
no duplicates on the web. So, yours must be unique,
and it must be registered with ICANN (the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
But, we'll handle registration for you. See
Website Names. |
|
|
|
Step 2 |
|
Your site must be designed, built, and then published to a
computer that is connected to the Internet and registered
to a DNS (Domain Name Service) server. This is the
most intensive (and costly) aspect of getting your
business online. But, here again, Galileo Storms
will provide all that you need. See
Web Design. |

|
|
Step 3 |
|
Your website must also be capable of supporting a variety
of email services. For example, you'll want
addresses like
sales@mynewsite.com, or
j.doe@mynewsite.net.
Choosing the types of services, creating user accounts on
the server, and setting up your client email software
correctly, are all critically important tasks. But,
we'll do all of the ''server side' stuff for you.
The rest is easy. See Email
Services. |

Step 4 (Optional) |
|
If you plan to sell goods or services on the web, the
choices are endless. And navigating a sea of terms like
Merchant Accounts, Merchant Gateways, Payment Processing,
Shopping Carts, Secure Transactions, and so on, is sure to
make your head spin. But, you can trust Galileo
Storms to put it all together for you, and to make it all
relatively painless. See
